How are your invitations created?
All of our custom and a la carte stationery sets are designed, printed, assembled and hand-crafted in our studio with the utmost attention to detail and care in craftsmanship.
What types of printing methods do you use?
We use a high-end, fine art printer for all of our custom and a la carte invitation sets using Envelopments paper. Sets created on metallic paper are printed using a laser printer. Offset and thermography printing are also available at additional costs. Certain a la carte invitation sets are printed digitally which provides a high quality while keeping costs down. These invitation sets will be noted in the gallery.
What is the difference between custom and a la carte?
Our custom invitations are designed just for you. If you have a vision for your invitation and can’t find it at any stationery shops we can create it for you! If you are looking for something one of a kind that is tailored specifically to your needs custom is for you. For those on a tighter budget our a la carte line is for you. We have a wide range of designs available for you to choose from at multiple price points. Our a la carte line is also available in a range of color choices.
What are the methods and terms of payment?
Custom: All custom orders start with a $150 design fee that will be applied to your final order. 50% payment and a signed contract will be due when the design phase is complete.
A la carte: All a la carte orders require a signed contract and a 50% deposit when you decide on Katlem Design & Invitations for your wedding stationery. The final payment is due before shipment of the invitation set.
Payment Methods: We accept check, cash, money orders,email transfers and credit cards through PayPal*.
* Please note that a 3.0% service charge will apply when payment is made via PayPal.
Can you print the envelopes for my invitations?
Yes we can! We like to think that the anticipation of your big event starts with the envelope and too often this piece is overlooked. We can print the return address and addressee on each envelope in a matching font and color from the invitation along with a coordinating graphic from the invitation for an additional cost of $1.00 each. We ask the you provide either an excel or word document of your guest list as we will print your envelopes exactly as the names appear on that list.

How much does shipping cost?
Shipping will vary upon your location and how large your order is. We’ll be able to give you a better estimate of your shipping cost at your time of purchase.
Does Katlem Design & Invitations have a return policy?
Due to the custom nature of our products, all sales are final. Please check your final digital proof very carefully before approving it, as we are not responsible for any errors made by you and do not offer refunds or reprints free of charge should errors occur (after receiving approval of your final proof).
Do you take on design projects for more than weddings?
We sure do! Please check out our other projects for a sampling of our other work. We like to mix things up sometimes!
A LA CARTE WEDDING DESIGNS
How do I order from the a la carte line of invitations?
At this time the entire process is not available completely online. If you find a design you like click on the "contact us" button on the top right of the page to email us your interest. We’ll set up an initial meeting (either in person or over the phone) to discuss details of your choice and start you through the personalization process
Can I make changes to the a la carte line?
With certain designs we have different color combinations available for you to choose from that are included in the price of the design. Changes past those listed are certainly feasible but may come at an extra charge. Please contact us to discuss your options.
Will you be adding new designs to your a la carte line?
Of course! Whenever we have the time to just let loose and have fun we like to create new designs for our a la carte gallery. Check back often for new designs!
How fast can I get the a la carte designs delivered to my home after I order?
Once we gather all your information, we say it takes at least four weeks to process your order, send you the digital comp, proof, print, assemble, package and either hand off your invitations or get them ready for shipping. If you need a job rushed please contact us directly and we'll see what we can work out for you.
How do we proof our a la carte invitations?
We strive for perfection and want to make sure you are getting exactly what you want so we'll send you (by internet, email, or mail) a digital comp of your invitation (including any and all printed inserts) so you can check to make sure it has everything you requested. You will have to either respond via email with an “okay, perfect, send to print!” or if via mail return the comp with a signature of approval. We won’t begin printing until approval has been given.
WEDDING INVITATIONS & EMBELLISHMENTS
How long does it take to create custom wedding invitations and embellishments?
From start to finish it could take a little as four to five weeks depending on quickly things get approved. We like to start off with an initial meeting either in person, over the phone or via email to introduce ourselves and find out more about what you are looking for in your wedding invitations and coordinating embellishments. Once we have a good handle on what you are looking for it can take up to two weeks to get you the initial design comps. Paper and supplies can be ordered once you choose paper colors and sizes. Once the approval process is complete and we have the wording you prefer it normally takes about two to three weeks to get your project printed and assembled.
How do we proof our custom wedding stationery?
Within two weeks of our initial meeting (in person, over the phone or via email) we will post the digital proof of your custom design (either online or we will email it to you) which you can review at your leisure. You can then provide feedback and subsequent proofs will be posted at the same location.
What kind of paper do you use?
Our favorite paper company to order our paper from is Envelopments®. Many of our designs incorporate paper from here but we can use any type of paper in your design to fit your needs. Designs printed digitally are printed on 100# white cover stock.
I have a unique vision for my wedding invitation, can you create something that I haven’t seen in your portfolio?
As designers we love solving problems and meeting challenges. We’d be more than happy to talk with you about your ideas and vision to see if they are something that we’d be able to create for you.
Can you send me samples of your custom invitations?
As all of our custom work is unique, the samples are laid out in our portfolio. Samples of our a la carte line can be purchased. Contact us for more information or to set up an initial consultation.
I want to see and feel the paper but live far away. How can I do that?
Not a problem! We have Envelopments® swatch decks available for purchase to aid you in choosing color combinations for your wedding. These swatch decks include small samples of every color paper Envelopments® offers. Swatch decks are offered for $20 including shipping. Email us to order.
WEDDING PRICING AND PROCESS
I need an extra insert for my invitations. How much do they cost?
Some brides have lots of information to share. Not a problem. Additional inserts are $1.50 each.
I have to provide some extra information but don't want another insert. Is there another option?
Sure. In some cases we can print on the back side of an existing insert in the design. Printing on the back side of an insert already part of your design is $0.75 each.
Production time is one week but I need my invitations faster. What is the rush fee?
Invitations that need to be produced in less than one week after signoff will incur an additional $150.00 rush fee. Existing clients will be notified during the design process if they risk being charged the rush fee due to delays in their design process if they are not willing to also delay their production date. This fee will not be charged if design delays are on the behalf of the designer.
Do you offer a mailing service?
We sure do! If you need Katlem Design & Invitations to stuff, stamp and mail your invitations on your behalf we can certainly accommodate that request. The mailing service is $75/100 invitations mailed (client provides mailing & response postage).
I'd like to use a map as one of my inserts. Can you make a custom map?
We sure can! Custom maps are $100.00. You provide the start point and end point and we make the map. If you need to change the route, not a problem, just give us the route you'd like to follow and we can easily adjust the map.
I see a wide range of prices for your invitations. What do they represent?
Low end of the range: The low end of the range includes using only matte papers, a postcard return plus one other insert, and a single backer behind the invitation. The low end of the range also does not include a double layer seal.
High end of the range: The high end of the range can include using a mix of patterned metallics, metallics and matte papers, a return with envelope plus two other inserts, a single backer behing the invitation (unless noted), envelope liners where noted, ribbon and/or swarovski crystals.
